Engineering & Technical Expertise

Structured and methodical product development support and leadership, from idea to prototype, and prototype to production.

I will work with you to establish structured development programs to turn ideas into functional prototypes, and prototypes into qualified, validated production and commercial ready products.

I have a methodical approach to problem solving, and can operate comfortably and competently in extremely deep technical subjects, whilst remaining conscious of the big picture requirements.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Gaining a full understanding of your product and technology, and your objectives, constraints and challenges.

  • Engagement with customers and other key stakeholders to fully understand the market requirements and technical and commercial objectives.

  • Methodical breakdown of complex projects into manageable, structured work packages, providing clarity of targets and responsibilities, and focus on successful execution.

  • Encourage an agile “Design, Make, Test” mindset, to fail and learn fast, developing Technology and Manufacturing Readiness Levels (TRL/MRL).

  • Balancing technical requirements with commercial and manufacturing constraints to find the best solutions, with particular focus on Design for Manufacture (DfM).

  • Finding win/win solutions with stakeholders from different industries worldwide, considering the influence of different cultures and perspectives.

  • Adept in selling innovative products through engagement with the end-user.

  • Application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles and tools to give structure to production solutions.

  • Advice on intellectual property strategies and management.

  • Experienced in writing, winning and delivering grant bids and projects (e.g. through Innovate UK), providing funding to support R&D initiatives, and supporting R&D Tax Credit applications.
